Robin Wang

Executive Director

Robin Wang brings over 20 years of experience working in various small business ventures involving technology, media, and social responsibility advocacy. Most recently, he owned a mission-based business that fostered the local green economies in several regions throughout the West. In largely a finance, sales, and operations role and together with his business partner, he expanded the business into 3 regions and grew annual revenues 5-fold. Since selling that business, he has served as an advisor helping other aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners achieve happiness. Robin is a native New Yorker who has called Portland home since 2003, has degrees from Carnegie Mellon University and Columbia University, and currently serves on the board of the Portland Fruit Tree Project.

Jarvez Hall

Business Advisory Services Program Coordinator 

Jarvez Hall, an Oregon native with an undergraduate degree from Oregon State University and an MBA from Willamette University, has spent the better part of a decade either as an entrepreneur or advocating for and educating entrepreneurs. He has worked for both a national small business-focused nonprofit organization and with local businesses through the Small Business Development Center at Portland Community College. Jarvez spends his free time educating the next generation of business leaders by serving as an Adjunct instructor at multiple local colleges and universities. He also serves on the Board of Directors at local non-profits Tender Loving Care-Think ‘N Try and the Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation of Oregon.

Edward Jones

Loan Officer

Edward has over a decade of banking and commercial lending experience at various institutions including US Bank, West Coast Bank and credit unions. A Portland area native since he was a teen, he went to PSU where he earned a B.S. in Social Science / Black Studies. When not helping business owners achieve their dreams, he enjoys spending time with his family, bowling, BBQs, watching college sports and motorcycle riding.

Kyle Lovell

Loan and Administrative Assistant

Kyle has worked with a wealth of small businesses since her arrival in Portland. Formally working with restaurants working towards a mutually beneficial relationship between farmers and the booming restaurant industry, she decided to take that love of PDX’s small business character a step further and joined the Ascent Funding team where she now oversees the servicing and management of our loan portfolio while helping our customers achieve their goals and dreams. Kyle is a native of Maine and earned her BS at the University of Vermont in Community Development and Applied Economics. She loves to travel and exploring the Pacific Northwest outdoors with her dog.

Marcy Newton

Marketing and Partnerships

Marcy is a passionate supporter of small business and is thrilled to apply her marketing and community outreach experience to Ascent Funding and its clients. She has an MBA in Marketing and Entrepreneurship from the University of Texas at Austin, and most recently led the Women’s Business Center and entrepreneurship education programs at Mercy Corps NW. In addition to chasing after her twin boys and new rescue pooch, in her free time she loves to travel, hike and explore the local food and wine scene.
