Robin Wang has over 20 years of small business ownership and entrepreneurship experience in a variety of industries including technology, media and social responsibility. Most recently, he owned a media business that promoted local green economies in several regions throughout the West. At Ascent Funding, Robin couples his passion for business and finance to help minority- and women-owned businesses access capital so that all businesses can have the same opportunity to grow and thrive. Robin is a native New Yorker who has called Portland home since 2003 and has degrees from Carnegie Mellon University and Columbia University.
Business Advisory Services Program Coordinator
Jarvez Hall, an Oregon native with an undergraduate degree from Oregon State University and an MBA from Willamette University, has spent the better part of a decade either as an entrepreneur or advocating for and educating entrepreneurs. He has worked for both a national small business-focused nonprofit organization and with local businesses through the Small Business Development Center at Portland Community College. Jarvez spends his free time educating the next generation of business leaders by serving as an Adjunct instructor at multiple local colleges and universities. He also serves on the Board of Directors at local non-profits Tender Loving Care-Think ‘N Try and the Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation of Oregon.
Edward has over a decade of banking and commercial lending experience at various institutions including US Bank, West Coast Bank and credit unions. A Portland area native since he was a teen, he went to PSU where he earned a B.S. in Social Science / Black Studies. When not helping business owners achieve their dreams, he enjoys spending time with his family, bowling, BBQs, watching college sports and motorcycle riding.
Loan and Administrative Assistant
Kyle has worked with a wealth of small businesses since her arrival in Portland in 2009. She worked with restaurants on establishing mutually beneficial relationships between farmers and the booming restaurant industry. She then took her interest in supporting businesses, particularly women and minority owned small businesses, a step further and joined the Ascent Funding team. Kyle oversees the servicing and management of Ascent’s loan portfolio while helping clients achieve their goals and dreams through new access to capital. Kyle is a native of Maine and earned her BS at the University of Vermont in Community Development and Applied Economics. She loves to travel and exploring the Pacific Northwest outdoors with her dog, Olive.
Marketing and Partnerships
Marcy brings almost 20 years of marketing and community outreach experience to Ascent Funding. She is a passionate supporter of small business and is thrilled to help facilitate the growth of women- and minority-owned small businesses through financial education and loans at Ascent. Previous experience includes leading the Women’s Business Center at Mercy Corps NW, running entrepreneurial education programs at UCLA Anderson, and handling marketing at a variety of startups and small businesses. Marcy has an Economics degree from UC Santa Cruz and an MBA in Marketing and Entrepreneurship from UT Austin. She loves to cook, travel and hike, often with her husband, twin boys and rescue pup, Abby, in tow.
